Get Your Halloween On

I've been searching for the PERFECT Halloween onesie for Hollyn, and after being inspired here, I knew exactly what I wanted to do.

So, I gathered my materials. For this project you will need:

*a shirt or onesie
*orange and black felt (depending on what size onesie you will need will determine how much you will need. I was working with a 9-12 month onesie, and I used one sheet of orange and two sheets of black)
*three black buttons
*a needle and black thread
*scissors

By the way, this project cost me all of $3. I'd say that's pretty darn good. :)

Cut your felt into circles that are one inch in diameter.
You do not have to measure; I just traced one of Hollyn's bottle lids to get the circular shape and was good to go.

You are then going to fold each circle in half...

...and then in half again. You'll then stitch just enough stitches at the point of the folded circle to make your circle hold a fortune cookie shape, so to speak. The stitches do NOT have to be pretty...no one will see them.

Once you have stitched all of your circles, sew the three orange circles down the center of the front of your shirt or onesie. Again I used black thread because you won't be able to see the stitches when you're done. I also made them overlap just a little.

Next you will sew the black pieces around the three center orange ones. You are aiming for a horseshoe shape, but if it's not perfect DO NOT WORRY! Again- this project is VERY forgiving thanks to the felt.

Once you have outlined the entire orange center, sew a black button in the center of each orange circle, and voila.

The results of your hard work should look something like this:

Isn't it adorable??? However, I think it looks even cuter like this:

I love this project because it's so versatile. You can easily adapt this for any holiday or just for a special everyday cutie patootie. Also, you can use patterned or solid fabric instead of felt, making the possibilities endless. I have a feeling I will make SEVERAL more of these very, very soon.

OH, and before you go, did you notice the super cute headband Hollyn was wearing?????

If you like it, don't forget to enter my giveaway here to win one of your very own. The winner will be announced on Friday, October 8th, so enter before the chance is gone. But don't worry, if you happen to miss this one, I'll be offering a giveaway every Friday for the next six weeks (at least), so you'll still have plenty of chances to win something adorable.

And, you know I have to ask: With only 28 days until Halloween, what creepy (or not so creepy) projects are YOU working on??? Leave me a comment and share a link. I'd love to see what you've been crafting. :)
